Overview

Joined BrowserStack as a Software Engineer and worked across backend systems, reporting, data infrastructure, and platform-wide projects serving high-scale enterprise customers including GM and PayPal.

Key Contributions

Reporting & Data

• Worked on the Test Management team, building reports and data-heavy features using both MySQL and ClickHouse.
• Wrote, reviewed, and tested SQL and ClickHouse queries against datasets containing 500M+ rows, including testing against groups with the largest volumes of data.
• Led the migration of reporting infrastructure from MySQL to ClickHouse, reducing queries that previously timed out to under 300ms.
• Optimized numerous queries by restructuring SQL, using different query techniques, and finding alternative ways to produce the same results. Many queries that took more than 30 seconds were brought under 500ms across tested cases.
• Moved workloads that could not perform reliably in MySQL to ClickHouse.

Advanced Filtering

• Designed and implemented an advanced filtering system supporting filters across multiple tables with nested AND, OR, and NOT conditions.
• Supported both local boolean logic within individual filters and global boolean logic between filters.
• Handled complex combinations such as tags IN ('a', 'b') OR status = 'high'.
• Worked through more than 200 test cases, including edge cases across different combinations of filters and boolean operators.

Platform Engineering

• Redesigned the CSV import pipeline with fault tolerance and automated retry mechanisms, reducing API overhead from O(N) to O(1) calls and doubling large-scale processing speed.
• Built backend services supporting significant traffic growth while maintaining zero downtime for enterprise customers.
• Integrated Google Translate using service-account authentication.
• Implemented centralized API response validation and sanitization middleware to eliminate XSS vulnerabilities across the platform without modifying source data.

RBAC

• Led a cross-team project to implement RBAC across the product.
• Worked across 5+ microservices to introduce authorization changes affecting non-GET APIs throughout the platform.
• Designed the rollout process around feature flags and carefully sequenced cache invalidation, allowing RBAC to be enabled incrementally for different groups before being rolled out across the product.
• Tested the impact across the platform and handled edge cases introduced by changing authorization behaviour across existing APIs.
• Coordinated work across four teams, managing asynchronous communication and building context across unfamiliar services to keep the implementation aligned.

Payments

• Worked with the Payments team on operational workflows and helped build a refund dashboard for monitoring and managing payment refunds.
• Worked on payment operations and daily checks to identify anomalies and ensure issues were handled reliably.

Mentoring

• Mentored 3+ junior engineers.
• Helped establish guidelines around production debugging, database migrations, and operational practices.
